We decided to do pizza but I had NO idea where I was gonna take him. I guess I'll do Monte Carlo's or Pizza Factory. As soon as I figure out where either of them are..LOL -

Sat, August 21, 2004 - 8:34 AMA friend just told me Tallyrand has the best omelettes and the best service. It's on Olive near Verdugo (across from the Vons and McDonald's). I will try it soon and let you know; if anyone else knows, please post a review. -
-
Re: Favorite Eateries
Sat, August 21, 2004 - 8:37 AMI usually go to Frank's (on Olive) if I want a reasonable breakfast so I will be interested to see if Tallyrand's is good. -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Sat, August 21, 2004 - 10:44 AMLancer's is pretty good for breakfast too - it's on Victory and Chandler, by the OSH and Toys-R-Us -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Wed, September 1, 2004 - 7:34 PMMaybe Don Cuco's? One in Glendale, and another in... Toluca Lake, I think. My favorite takeout Mexican place is Casitas in Burbank, on the corner of Victory and Magnolia.
Cripes, I've been going there for years, and they recognize me now. -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Thu, September 2, 2004 - 7:13 AMMy neighbor says it is his favorite too. I have lived nearby for more than 3 years and didn't know about it 'til a few months ago. I don't remember what I ordered. I will have to try it again.

Re: Favorite Eateries
Mon, August 23, 2004 - 4:54 PMSteak places... Outback cafe, I've never had a Victorias cut I didn't like...
good call on the sandwiches..Otto's the favorite place of the Burroughs Alumni....
Another great sandwich place is Geomelis(dunno if it's spelled correctly though)
Pizza, I'd have to go with Dino's, the pizza is just perfect.
Italian, I would go with Bellavista, and if you like wine, they also have a great house chianti that is very cheap and worth every penny....they also have a good pizza too.
a little more upscale and on the edge more of the border of NH is Vitellos....it's quite famous now.... :/
RIbs...yeah...ribs USA...can't argue with that...
Chinese food... Great wok...so far the best chinese I've ever had....and I"ve tried quite a few.
Pf changs is good for a chain....
Costco has good hotdogs and pizza....
Don cucoes is good mexican, actually was there yesterday for lunch. Very similar is Viva fresh by the equestrian center and bowling ally.
If you're a sushi fan, Yamakawa, some of the best sushi I've ever had...and they have premium saki as well...very good stuff
If you're a pub grub fan, right across the street is Timmy Nolans. Great Fish N chips....
Lancers has some good weekly dinner deals...
so those are Marks pics
Enjoy :) -

Sun, August 29, 2004 - 9:20 AMMy brother-in-law says Poquito Mas is good:
Poquito Mas - The Original Baja
2635 W Olive Ave
Burbank, CA 91505
Phone: 818-563-2252
"Poquito Mas makes incomparable carnitas, which go into generous, delicious burritos and soft tacos. Tasty fish tacos are usually offered, and the tostadas are perfection. You can eat inside in a tiny room, or outside on a makeshift patio."

Re: Favorite Eateries
Sun, August 29, 2004 - 12:08 PMTallyrand's is by far the best breakfast in Burbank so far for food, price and service! My husband and I had omellettes, right after we sat down we got some free kiddie food for the boys (2 and 3 yrs old), the service was exceptional and the prices were good. It is at the corner of Olive and Reese.
We will probably try them soon for lunch and/or dinner and I will let you know how that goes. -

Re: Favorite Eateries

Re: Favorite Eateries
Wed, September 1, 2004 - 7:36 PMYeah, Poquito Mas IS good.
I always get the "Studio Plate," or something like that. It's basically Arroz Con Pollo. Just talking about it is making my mouth water.

Edward says Chili John's
Wed, September 8, 2004 - 7:53 AMChili John's.
2018 W. Burbank Blvd.
Burbank CA
tues to fri 11 am to 7 pm.
sat 11 am to 4 pm.
"Chili" here means a thick, rich meat sauce. Ebony colored, really. You can order it plain, with beans, with spagetti or both . (Chili Mac, my dad used to call it.) You can get the whole mess with cheese, sour cream, chopped onions and those tiny oyster crackers.
It's amazingly rich. Like many 'low-brow' foods, the appeal is in the combination of one rich taste with many simple ingredients--the toppings.
You can order to stuff poured onto a hot dog. Or take home a pound of it for $10.
The place has total ambience since the day one. It's just a counter and a huge landscape painting on the wall (of none too great artistic quality).
Old time-y LA at its best.

Re: Favorite Eateries
Fri, October 8, 2004 - 9:50 PMI have eaten a couple of times at Season Thai Cuisine at 166 E. Orange Grove. It's very good. We ordered there once to take home and another time called and picked it up to go. (They don't have delivery.)
Also...Tonight I heard about (but haven't tried) an Italian place that is in or by the Anabelle Hotel. The address of the hotel is 2011 W. Olive. -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Fri, October 8, 2004 - 9:58 PMAlso forgot to tell you guys I ate at "The Place for Steaks" expensive (the price includes the tip already though) but exceptional meat and wine. My husband got steak which he really liked (he isn't big on steaks so that means a lot) and I had lamb which was fabulous.
Ray, the proprietor (and I gathered his wife) seem to be the only cook and server in a place that looks to be a converted house on the corner of Burbank and Mariposa (1220 W. Burbank). Reservations (818) 840-9400. -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Mon, October 11, 2004 - 1:34 PMA couple places that I hit this weekend, Señor Freds on ventura, near woodman. Also, a place across from the Great Greek called maria's kitchen or something like that, it's Italian and they have a very good house wine...
-
-
Re: Favorite Eateries
Tue, October 12, 2004 - 7:06 AMYou might be thinking of Maria's Italian Kitchen. Their chicken is great. I've never eaten at their restaurant but a company I worked for would order their food for company functions where they needed to feed more than 15 people. -
-
Re: Favorite Eateries
Tue, November 9, 2004 - 8:43 AMPlace we hit this weekend...
North End Pizzeria...GREAT stromboli. I had the chicken fettucine alfredo and was really impressed.
I'm gonna try their salad next. And the pizza looked really good too. FRESH FRESH food.. yummy. -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Sat, April 23, 2005 - 11:31 PMOk...well, being one that doesn't get out much, I have to say that I got left overs once from PF Chang's and it is amazing!
Last week I actually got out for a moment and went to the Brewery, on the corner of San Frenado and I think Angeline?
IT was awesome. Garlic fries. (never heard of them before) fries covered with garlic. Besides the great beers they had, which by the way, you can get a sampler, the salad alone would have been enough. If you are into blue cheese. It is a wedge of a lettus head covered with blue cheese and then the blue cheese dressing poured over and to top it off, bacon crumbles. Awesome.
Ok, my one experience out side of this home bound life. :)
Oh, Barringtons(?) on Victory is good for Mexican food. Doesn't sound like a mexican food place but it is and it's also very good.

Re: Favorite Eateries
Sat, April 23, 2005 - 11:36 PMoh and as for the Tallyrand, we used to go there for breakfast after we got off a soap opera night call at NBC. They are/were known for making a full turkey dinner every day for a really good price. They are sort of the last of the 'home cook' places.
They also used to make a drink called a root beer float.
No root beer in it but tasted just like it and knocked you on your..ok..enough about that.
If they still make them? on your way in or out, grab a bran muffin they bake. mmmmmmmmm
muffins...........
ok..now I'm hungry... :0 -

You've just awakened one of my earliest memories of childhood! WOW! My parents and I used to go to Patty's ALL THE TIME when I was a very young lass. The marshmallow dip was amazing.
Does anyone remember Dalt's? I heard they just recently or are about to close down, but I remember going there years ago and loving their fries and shakes.
I'm vegan now and only frequent places in the San Gabriel Valley and North Hollywood for vegetarian meals, are there any veggies out there who know of a good vegetarian or veg-friendly place in Burbank?

monte carlo if you're looking to stock on great deli stuff. good salami, cheeses, bread, prosciutto, olives, etc. etc. etc. i love that place.
does anyone know if chopstick is still around? they used to have really good chinese...
and if any of you are familiar with porto's bakery in glendale, they've opened up a burbank location as of this past monday. i HIGHLY recommend them. the potato balls and the meat pies are great and i hear their cuban sandwiches are to die for. i usually just go for the pastries. -

if you are in glendale and want to hit the original location, it's at 315 north brand. if you're heading towards the mall from the 134 it'll be on the right side. -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Thu, January 26, 2006 - 9:30 AMI took the family to Portos on opening day Monday, Jan 23. We got some meat pies and potato balls and some yummy pastries to go, oh ya some delicious white and dark chocolate covered strawberries too. We happened to find ourselves back the next day for lunch. Cuban sandwich, feta basil sandwich and a grilled chicken sandwich and an amazing garden salad. I was surprised at the reasonable prices!
Also, a different place in Burbank I love is The Buchanan Arms Scottish Pub, 2013 Burbank Blvd. Just east of Keystone (which is just east of Buena Vista). Good fish and chips and other British fare. There is a store attached were you can find those UK products you love. The beer selection on tap is good. I'm a fan of the Guinness and Bass. On a Friday night maybe finish with a single malt scotch. The place was up for sale for a while; it went as far as the liquor license change of ownership being posted in the window. But thanks be to God the sale fell through. I love this place with its gingham table clothes and warm pub tones; it's like hanging in the family living room. Stop by for a drink and hang. -
