where can i find a good hiking and/or mountain biking trail in Burbank?

1) drive to the Stough Nature center and you can hike the fire-road all the way across the Verdugos.
2) drive to Brand Park and several trails take you into the Verdugos. This hike links with hike 1 above! -

Wed, January 4, 2006 - 6:13 PMThe fire roads in the Verdugos all network in kind of a big star-shaped thing. The one on the west side starts in Sun Valley on Lanark street. Another one starts in Shadow Hills (?) off of La Tuna Canyon Road. These both join up with the aforementioned Stough route in Burbank. Then if you keep heading East, it joins up with the Brand Park fire road. If you head a little farther west, it splits into Beaudry North and Beaudry South, which take you to a country club in La Canada. These are all shown as dotted lines on the Thomas Guide, if you want to look at a map.
Also, there are little-known (and hard to find) patches of singletrack off of the La Tuna road and Stough, which are not shown on any map.

Mon, January 2, 2006 - 10:05 PMMy friend, who lives up on San Jose just goes up by the golf course and the ampitheatre. Just take Magnolia till it dead ends then turn left. -

i've got a friend in hollywood that i go mountain biking with on a regular basis and i've been getting a little tired of the trails over there.

Sun, January 8, 2006 - 6:30 PMtoday i checked out the trails behind brand park--awesome! a friend and i took our bikes up and on one trail that we later discovered was better suited for hiking. after that, we found another trail that was great for biking--and quite a workout i might add....i think i'm hooked.

Mon, January 9, 2006 - 5:42 PMIt's the Brand family cemetary! I think they founded Glendale, or at least owned much of it. I don't know the details but I like visiting it.
